What is life like when you have a relentless killer or threat constantly on your back? The second season opener of Fox’s Terminator – The Sarah Connor Chronicles epitomizes that dilemma. This intelligent fantasy series is one of the best offerings this fall season on network TV.
I became a fan last year when it premiered based on the popular Terminator Movie series. The plot builds on the Terminator lore where Intelligent Human-like robots sent from an organization called Skynet from the future come back to assassinate the young man who will grow up to lead the human rebel forces in that future.
The Chronicle series leaps beyond its science fiction genre with great writing that builds on character development and real human themes. Leana Heady as Sarah Connor Emmy worthy performances last year week after week and did so with this season’s premiere. Her complicated Sarah, Mother and Warrior, is played with such rawness and intelligence that she is has become one of the strongest female characters on TV today.
Thomas Dekker as John Connor has grown with every episode and plays well against Heady as the adolescent boy hero. His character forced to grow up too quickly and be exposed to horrors is played masterfully by Dekker. He gives a great performance in the second season opener setting the stage for a young man passing into manhood. Dekker is an actor to watch.
Summer Glau as the reprogrammed Terminator, Cameron, sent to protect John Connor by an older version of himself from the future. She challenges John, Sarah and the others about the whole human vs. robot issue. She is definitely a machine, and as shown in the season opener, is vulnerable to a program error that can work against the Connors. She has no emotion or does she? Or are the human simply projecting their own emotions on her, especially John?
Brian Austin Green (best known for Beverly Hills 90210) also comes from the future as brother to John’s father Kyle. Green fills his role well and also shows some great acting ability in his character as soldier mentor to his nephew.
Terminator- The Sarah Connor Chronicles is Must See Television. Don’t Miss out! It airs every Monday Night at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.

While the ever-evolving technological enemy grows stronger, 16-year-old John begins taking the steps necessary to embrace his destiny as the savior of mankind. John finds himself caught between his fearless protector, the beautiful but potentially dangerous cyborg, CAMERON (Summer Glau), and his new friend, RILEY (Leven Rambin), who represents freedom but also a potential risk to his safety. John’s uncle, DEREK REESE (Brian Austin Green), continues to fight alongside the Connors, but has he overstayed his welcome?
After CROMARTIE (Garret Dillahunt), the T-888 sent from the future, spared FBI Agent JAMES ELLISON’s (Richard T. Jones) life, Ellison has become a believer, accepting that “no one is ever safe.” Agent Ellison is now bent on understanding his role and his purpose. CATHERINE WEAVER (Shirley Manson), CEO of Zeira Corp, may just know where to find the answers Ellison is looking for.
In Season Two, life for the Connors intensifies as their relationships are challenged and the present and the future begin to become one. How long can Cameron protect them before they’re discovered by Skynet? How will the Connors keep their family intact?
