The epic sequel The Hobbit-The Desolation of Smaug was a majestic film to watch. Every frame had visual richness. In some ways better than the first movie. However, I fell asleep twice during the film.
First of all , it is a long movie and the plot did not capture my attention consistently during the film. This is a marked difference from when I read the book and how my imagination was filled with the imagery and story presented in the written word. The book never lost my interest and I never fell asleep from it.
I did not feel empathy for the characters. The movie felt distant and I responded by taking a couple of naps.
There were couple of scenes with the Dragon that were highlights but not enough to carry the whole film.
Not really excited about the next movie.
