He was the last singer to perform in this round of competition of the final eight contestants of American Idol for this season. The theme was songs from the year you were born. He performed “Mad World” from 1982. It was toned down and he made it his own. He does that with every song he has sung in this competition. He is Adam Lambert.
He has so out distanced himself from the contestants in what he brings to the competition in terms of talent and artistry that even hard nose judge, Simon Cowell, gave him a standing ovation.

Simon Cowell liked Adam Lambert's "American Idol" performance so night, he got to his feet to applaud. ( Photo couortesy of NJ.Com)
The American Idol title is really not even important in Lambert’s future as much anymore. He is a true star and fast becoming a mega star. He is the first contestant that I have seen on the American Idol stage that has had the makings of such star power.
Even as talented as 16 year old Allison Iraheta is (she is the closest in talent to Lambert in my opinion and will surely get an album), she lacks the presence and experience that Lambert possesses on stage.
Idol is worth watching just to watch Adam’s performance each week.
Also bringing on strong performances besides Adam and Allison were Danny Gokey, Anoop Desai and Matt Giraud.
