Kris Allen, Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert all turned in stellar performances in the final three competition week of American Idol.  This has resulted in perhaps the most difficult voting week of all eight seasons of the series as America decides on three different styles of music artists.

Personally, in terms of talent and originality, I am still a Lambert fan.  He may not be everybody’s cup of tea but he is so different and so unique that he will not only leave his stamp on Idol history no matter what the outcome but I predict will be a powerhouse in the music industry. He pushes the envelope and you remember his performances. His musical range is off the charts and he is the only idol that has inspired me to actually think of going and seeing one of their summer tour concerts.  I cannot wait for his first album.  If he does not make it to the finals, it will be a controversial blow similar to the Chris Daughtry one a few seasons back.

I think the horse race is between Danny Gokey and Kris Allen. Danny has never been in the bottom three. He is likable and has a beautiful voice. Kris Allen is good looking and has developed over the season into a force to be reckoned with his unique style. Both guys appeal to the mainstream which makes up the American Idol audience. Either one can make it to the finals and, yes, can even take the title because of that,  if the public goes with the usual vanilla voting mentality.

Lambert’s renditions of U2’s “One” and Aerosmith’s “Cryin” were absolutely powerful and amazing.   Kris Allen brought new life to Kanye West’s “Heartless.”  Danny Gokey’s gut and soul wrenching performance of “You Are Beautiful” showcased his voice perfectly.

Whichever two make it to the finals, we can all agree that these three men have made this season one of the most exciting ones ever because of their talent.
