There is something about the birth of an infant that brings such a profound joy into a family. On June 2, 2010, Tasi Sabrina was born to my daughter, Rachel. Nothing but happiness has blanketed our family. This little beauty has caused love to fill our hearts and smiles to not end.
Her first name Tasi is the Chamorro ( native language of Guam and the Northern Marianas) word for ocean or sea. This has special meaning to me since it was the ocean where I used to think my deepest thoughts at looking at its vastness. Now my heart has magnified to one who holds it’s namesake.
Having a granddaughter is more than just a gift, it is a beautiful life force that promises continuation of the memories and legacy of the family. It is as organic a feeling that is tribal in nature with my roots. It is also that wonderful feeling of welcoming a beautiful little princess to spoil and love like all grandfathers do.
There is a scene from an old Jerry Lewis movie Rockabye Baby where he sings this beautiful Italian lullaby to triplets. The song is called “Dormi, Dormi, Dormi.” I love it and I post it dedicating it to my little Tasi.
Children are truly the reward of life. Congrats to Rachel, grandfather and the rest of the family. God bless you all xx
Thank you, Eugene. You are so right and we are blessed.
