Before You Sleep Tonight

I reach across the miles before you close your eyes,

to whisper in your ear

before you sleep tonight

that you have my heart to take into your dreams

It may seem so soon but time does not care

under twilight’s eye where feelings rise

for all to see like twinkling stars

joining souls that were meant to be

I brush your hair lovingly telling you to

sleep restfully and blissfully

before you sleep tonight

taking my dearest wish with you into your dreams

…that one day I may be by your side …not only in your dreams….
