Who knew that America wanted more from their pastors than what they get from the pulpit? In the last couple of years or so we have seen some provocative calendars come out. Okay, kind of provocative. No full on nudity or sex.
One was in Rome. It was called Calendario Romano. It is a calendar of very handsome Italian Priests.
It has been so successful that the 2009 Calendar casting and photo shoots are underway. Smile Father and work that camera!
Then there was the debut, a couple of years ago, of the Men on a Mission calendar, where returned Mormon missionaries took off their shirts and posed for the cameras. This set off a little controversy in Utah. It really was no big deal. It reminded me of the guys hanging out in the dorms at BYU where I attended college back in the day. And, yes, they were all that hot!
I tried to search for the Hot Baptist Preacher Calendar or the Hot Lutheran Minister Calendar. I found nothing. I even used Yahoo image search. I found nothing hot there. Actually some of those images were kind of disturbing. Maybe that is the reason why they have not come up with their own clergy calendars yet. So for right now, the Catholics and the Mormons own that market niche.
I don’t own either the Catholic or the Mormon calendars. I prefer my Family Guy or Dilbert ones. I only want to see my clergy on Sundays in Church fully clothed ( on that rare occasion I attend services, of course) and not when I am looking up dates to find out when my next dental appointment is scheduled.
