You filled my heart and my mind
with a fullness of life I thought lost
I was caught up in possibilities
and not in the impossibilities
some called me foolish
yet I believed in miracles
only to find out that
like stories found in fairybooks
and imaginations rich in beauty
and only in dreams where what we want
exists in fully and sweetly
your heart was not in the same place
bittersweet I leave the remnants of that dream
in the same place where I leave all my broken feelings
not with the same sadness but with no regrets
For I discovered I could love so freely again
so unabashedly
I have come out stronger
and for the one who gains my heart
he will know a love so full
that miracles will seem pale
against the life we will build together

your title drew me in,
what a talented work…
Vaarwel Knysna…..My favourite place in the whole wide world (used to live in Cape Town 10 years ago) Your poem has touched my heart in a deep way, words spoken from a deep place. I believe that people come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime…..and from each we learn. I am sending you hugs and much love….one persons loss is another’s gain!! Thanks for sharing such a wonderfully written poem. ~ Amanda x
Thank you. I fell for this one somewhat too fast and long distance. He is a good guy and I think of him as a friend, but alas….I only wish him happiness. I wish my heart would only be less heavy when the emotion moves like waves over it.
Thanks you for your comments.
JP
The emotions lap at the lines of your verse like waves on the shore. Nicely written!

Rich and perceptive. I love the embrace of vulnerability. Not easy, but life is diminished without it. – Bill

This was lovely, I really liked
I have come out stronger
and for the one who gains my heart
he will know a love so full
that miracles will seem pale
against the life we will build together
It take so much courage to embrace both love and love’s end.
Regards…
