A Frequent Flyer On A Magic Carpet

A Frequent Flyer On A Magic Carpet

By:  JP Leddy

My magic carpet is woven by words

With speeds greater than light I travel

to worlds only the imagination could create

to the worlds of the past already lost to dust

into the lives of heroes and the infamous

I have been to the tops of the mountains

And dived to the depths of the ocean’s trenches

My magic carpet with its countless pages of words

has shown me love, lust, hatred and redemption

I have felt compassion, revulsion and inspiration

I have been lost in imagery painted by words joined perfectly

Yes, I have seen more than whole new worlds

I have seen possibilities that lay within my mind

The magic comes from the reading

The carpet is the book

I am a frequent flyer

  1. Fantastic write! I really liked the line “I have been lost in imagery painted by words joined perfectly”, it sums up what books have meant to me.

  2. heheh..awesome, JP!!! Guess what?! I am member of this FF program too!! Maybe we should exchange our carpets (umm.. books) sometime 🙂
