Truth Be Known
By: JP Leddy
Finding my voice in the chaos of doubt
Breaks the shackles of disbelief and blindness
That the love I seek does not come from without
But comes from the heart I call my own
And not love for that person of my dreams
But for the person of my life , my very self
For truth be known it is I
That must win my heart first
Before I can give it to any other
Whether it be lover or friend

JP – this speaks volumes – and it is the entire “heart of the matter” (no pun intended) of the many lost and disillusioned souls … we aren’t taught to love ourselves first – without the guilt of selfishness or arrogance attached to it. Powerful lesson within. Thank you for leaving a link for me to enjoy! Thank you for the visit!
You are right, Becca.
Thanks for the visit!

An emotional breakthrough. This is so true. And, once done, we embrace the Universe.
I always so enjoy my visits here, my fellow Bay-area friend.

What a beautiful, insightful, truthful message. Loving yourself is what makes you strong enough to get through life (in myhumble opinion). π
So true, Rhyme!

What a beautiful picture and beautiful sentiments in the poem to match! Your words are so true…I wish more people understood the importance of self love, first and foremost. You did a great job with this! π
This could not be more truthful. Hit the nail on the head.
To thy own self be true. You wrote it much more eloquently.
Nice poem, speaks volume

No truer words have been laid down – pity too many people do not realize that contentment begins with being at peace with who they are inside rather than who they have on their arm – fantastic write!
