Forever Playing…

Forever Playing…

By: JP Leddy

Albums full of  smiles of  wide eyed babies…

Fill my Sunday afternoons sipping wine…

Laughter is the sound track in my mind…

As memories of my little ones wrap around my heart…

Where “Daddy”  was the sweetest song that greeted me…

With little hands that grabbed mine with excited glee…

Asking for piggy back rides and to be swung around…

The forever playing newsreel in my happy brain…

Those little voices no longer resound  replaced by older ones…

Children morphed into grown adults with less laughter…

Life squeezing the play and the Daddy out of them…

Assigning them to the past,  and alive only in remembrance….

…If only innocence could be regrown

Submitted to the  Poetry Potluck Week 36 – Sketches, Images and Impressions

  3. I got lost into the image of childhood innocence you painted within your words! Indeed, as we grow up, something happens to us- LIFE!!

    Very well expressed friend..
