ABC ‘s Once Upon A Time Brings The Fairy Tale Thriller To TV

I now know where cursed fairy tale characters end up to suffer. They end up in Maine. At least that is what is happening on Once Upon A Time on ABC. A wicked stepmother witch angered over the Prince’s marriage to Snow White. They have a baby girl who is sent through a portal to be kept safe from the witch. She ends up in our world.

On her 28th birthday she is destined to return as a savior to the cursed fairy tale characters.

Found by the son she gave up for adoption, the show takes you on a dual journey of self discovery of Emma ( the baby girl grown up played by Jennifer Morrison) and the plight of the exiled fairy tale characters. There is enough dramatic pitch and outer worldliness mixed with real humanity that the show has real promise.

I found myself caught up in the intrigue and danger that underscored the entire show. It had elements of the X-Files and Lost mixed in with a little Disney that made it a riveting watch for me.

I rediscovered my bedtime stories in this new ABC show…but now with an edge every time I tune in to Once Upon A Time.
