My daughters were visiting me in the bay area and convinced me to join them to see The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. Apparently this was a sequel. Frankly, I expected to be bored and do a lot of eye rolling on some predictable “chick” flick storyline. I ended up being pleasantly surprised.
The story follows the friendship of four young women after high school. They have a tradition of sending (via Fed Ex) a pair of ornate jeans (that they apparently all fit) to each other with some connection to a major happening in their lives. It is almost like a good luck charm to them and a source of inspiration. In the movie they discover it really is simply a reflection of the love and friendship that they have for each other.
The movie carries us through the major story lines of each of the girl’s lives. I was especially taken by both the acting and characters played by America Ferrera (of Ugly Betty fame) and Amber Rose Tamblyn (of Joan of Arcadia and General Hospital fame). They really brought real warmth and believability to their characters.
The writing on this movie is superb and provides young women with a story that is not dumbed down or exploitative. It is intelligent and relative to current issues in their lives. My daughters absolutely enjoyed it. I found myself moved by a genuinely good film. In a summer filled with special effects and thrillers, it is nice to find a good film simply about regular life themes.
Masterfully directed in cutting fashion by Sanaa Hamri–no scene seems to last more than a couple of minutes, and then the pants come into play–the story has been superbly brought to the screen by Elizabeth Chandler, and the four lead actresses are all t I m watched Movies Here You could try to http://www.80millionmoviesfree.com
