American Idol’s Top 12 – Has Few Stand Outs

This season’s American Idol has finally narrowed down the competitive field field to 12 hopeful candidates. I still say that the star power of this season’s talent pool has been lacking or at least been slow to start showing. However there are a few stand outs.

Michael Lynche and Crystal Bowersox

Michael Lynche and Crystal Bowersox are definitely the front runners. Then coming in the distant second are Andrew Garcia, Lee Dewyze and Siobhan Magnus. Garcia can quickly come up to the Lynche and Bowersox stage with better song choices.

The candidate that I wished made the top 12 but did not, was Alex Lambert. He has a great voice but he did struggle with confidence. I listened to his songs and I agreed with the judges it had recording value. I hope he is able to mature and to build a career from this experience. I buy his records.

It will be interesting to see how this season goes and who eventually becomes the next American Idol. Of course, the lesson learned from the past seasons is that becoming the next Idol does not necessarily mean having the most successful music career. Many runner ups and top 12 performers have excelled in their careers better than the winners.

I will be watching to see what happens to this group.
