Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery

It has been an exciting tenth season with more talent packed in and more buzz then recent seasons. Viewership has been up and votes have been higher.  Despite the some of the naysayers out there, American Idol has gotten a second life and is the highest rated show on television.

We now are in finals week, where it has come down to two contestants, both in the country music genre and both the youngest contestants to reach this juncture.  One female and one male.   They are 16 year old Lauren Alaina from Rossville, Georgia and 17 year old Scotty McCreery from Garner, North Carolina.  Both all American kids with big dreams and big voices.  They each have a contingent of loyal fans.

It will be a close race.

Lauren has a rich melodic voice that won over the judges immediately and has the star looks that makes her Idol winner ready and recording hit ready.

Scotty with his deep southern cooing has won him millions of fans has really grown during the season and is garnering praises from the judges like ” We are at a Scotty concert”  “Scotty is in it to win it.”    He has morphed into a Superstar of sorts now.

All will depend on their performances tonight as to who will garner the top price.

By tomorrow night, there will be a new American Idol!
