Take a story about a grown son and his mother taking a road trip across the USA ad you have a promising premise for a story plot. Cast Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen and you end up with movie magic.
What makes Guilt Trip works is the chemistry between Rogen and Streisand. I have to give Rogen kudos for being able to match up to the legendary Streisand . They make a great comedy duo.
The story follows Rogen’s character who is pitching a natural cleaning product he invented to several businesses across the nation. He has mom ( Streisand) tag alone , even though she gets on his nerves, as an attempt to reunite her with a long lost love at the end of their trip in San Francisco. She is unaware of this plan.
Any son could relate to a certain degree to this movie. It has a universal message about the dynamics of mother-son relationships. There are several laugh out moments and of course the movie brings home some dramatic pitch points that these seasoned actors deliver perfectly.
Guilt Trip offers a guilt free movie experience. It is a funny, quieter film among some of the more hyped and bigger films out there. Take some time and take the trip.
