The most recent episode of HBO’s The Game of Thrones goes down as another milestone moment in perhaps the best drama on television right now.  This series is already full of milestone scenes with only two episodes in for this season.

The writing and acting are superb.  The plot line moves at the right pace and brings us on a journey that is totally engaging which makes for great TV.  Of course, the books, that this show is based on,  must be rich in detail, but as a non-reader of those books, the television series is riveting in its story arcs with surprising twists and turns like any great novel.

There is something about what happened in the second episode this season that showed the demise of the tyrannical Joffrey that is both satisfying, shocking and surprising.  It opens the series to a whole new set of possible story lines emerging from that death.  Who was responsible for his murder?  The question of the season.

I love that this show is committed to its core and does not soft pedal anything about the future and also the fates of its characters. It is the story that is the star and everything else serves its purpose.

I can’t wait for the rest of the season!
